Taking a spin from the idea of “Black Friday” a.k.a. the day Black people purge and splurge on sale items, the latest project tapped with Mike Epps’ name at the head is the comedic thriller, Meet The Blacks, produced by Roxanne Avent for Hidden Empire Film Group.

Starring Epps, Paul Mooney, George Lopez, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, Mike Tyson and Charlie Murphy, the film is described as a spoof of the Purge franchise. “Meet The Blacks takes spoofing to a new level and is pure cinematic fun for audiences who just want to laugh,” director Deon Taylor told Shadow & Act.

Also attached to the project is RZA, who will write, produce and perform original music for the film.

Meet The Blacks is slated for an April 29 release.

Ahead of the film release, you can catch Mike Epps’ broad smile on Bounce TV as he co-host the 24th Annual Trumpet Awards alongside Nia Long. The Black tie ceremony spotlights and honors history-making entertainment, humanitarian, philanthropic and political individuals. This year’s honorees include Ne-Yo, who will be receiving the “Visionary Award” and super producer, Will Packer, who will be presented with the “Entertainment Award.”

The ceremony will be held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, on January 23. Along with broadcasting on Bounce TV, the event will also air nationally in over 75 markets.
